What if my world limit exceeds a few extra than the set limit of 1000 words? Am I still eligible for the competetion?

    • Sweek team, June 4, 2017 Reply

Hi, normally we stop reading after the word limit has been reached (so you still participate, but only the part with the right word limit is evaluated), but we do allow for a few extra characters in certain cases.

My daughter is 8 can she write. And what is the upper age limit to write

    • Sweek team, June 4, 2017 Reply

Hi, the age limit for using Sweek is 14 years old. However, you could create an account and upload it from your name saying it is your daughter's story? Could be a solution?

  • Vandana, June 5, 2017 Reply

My son will turn 14 on 30 June. Can he create his own account and participate?

    • Sweek team, June 5, 2017 Reply

Hi there, the deadline for the contest is before that unfortunately. But if you'd like, you can create an account for yourself and upload it from there, indicating that this is your son's work

If it fits the theme of the competition, sure, you can give it a try! However, it might be a better fit with the #storytellers competition we have going on as we are looking for both prose and poetry.

  • Kaz, June 14, 2017 Reply

    Hi,

    • Sweek team, June 14, 2017 Reply

Hi there, the topic is open!

  • Saul soren, June 14, 2017 Reply

My story contains around 850 words but the characters count is around 4000 died to the inclusion of full stop, spaces, special character. I'm not able to post because the story space is just for 2000 'characters'. Please help...

    • Sabine van der Plas, June 15, 2017 Reply

Hi Saul, that's not supposed to happen indeed. Let me find the problem. Are you using Android, iOS or web to publish your story? And are you sure you copied/wrote the text in the 'new chapter' and not in 'new story' description?

      • Saul soren, June 16, 2017 Reply

Problem solved. However, I published the story. I used the tag #UnbelievableTales. Will u just make sure if it's published correctly. I'm doing it for first time so I'm not sure. Name of the story is "I broke an oath". Thanks 😃

        • Sabine van der Plas, June 17, 2017 Reply

Hi Saul, I can't find your story based on the title. What's your username and what do you see in 'my stories'.Would be easiest if you can e-mail this to support@sweek.com ;) thanks!

          • Saul soren, June 18, 2017

Hi, sweek team. I'm finding certain difficulties in publishing the story. I've tried twice and don't understand what's the exactly problem. See, I'm getting the dialogue box saying that my story has been published but when I reopen my story section, I don't see any story, rather I'm been asked to start a new story. Please help. I've mailed you too, see if you got the mail.😃

          • Sabine van der Plas, June 18, 2017

Yes, I just replied to the mail!

Hi, the storytellers competition has prize money (https://blog.sweek.com/writing-competition-storytellers/). We want to offer different types of prizes to our writers - not just cash.

  • Geetha M Priyadarshini, June 15, 2017 Reply

Hi, this is a maiden attempt. How do I promote my story? The title is "When the song was lost." I didn't see a genre related to child literature and fiction. Kindly clarify.

    • Sabine van der Plas, June 18, 2017 Reply

Hi Geetha, we indeed don't have child literature as a genre on Sweek yet. I think you could best select the general genre it comes closest to, and then write the age recommendation in the description. We're considering adding this particular category to Sweek in the future.

About the promotion, you can leave a comment with your story here:
      https://sweek.com/#/read/38149/1400000162

You can also join the Sweek fanpage, where the Sweek Keepers (ambassadors) choose a story weekly to promote!
      https://www.facebook.com/groups/306066656501682/

Leaving valuable feedback on other writers' stories can also get you readers in return :)

Hello, when you want to enter with multiple stories, can you put them together as different chapters in one story?

    • Sabine van der Plas, June 17, 2017 Reply

Hi, no, as we count the total number of words per story of all chapters combined. You can submit separate entries by creating separate stories :)

  • S. Akhtar, June 20, 2017 Reply

    What's the upper age limit?

    • Sabine van der Plas, June 20, 2017 Reply

Hi, there is no upper age limit. Only a minimum age of 14 to participate (or permission from the parents).

  • Jafar, June 22, 2017 Reply

If I want to write in Urdu language? Is it possible or not?

    • Sabine van der Plas, June 23, 2017 Reply

Hi Jafar, for this competition there is no judge who speaks Urdu, so we can't accept entries in Urdu. For #IndiaCollegeClash, we do accept submissions in Hindi, if you speak that as well (as they're a bit similar). https://blog.sweek.com/writing-competition-india-college-clash/

And of course, you can also upload your stories on Sweek just to share them, without participating in a competition :)

  • vidhi, June 23, 2017 Reply

Hi. I know you've answered it somewhere already, but I was wondering if a few extra words (maybe 30-35) will be accepted for the 1000-word limit count? I'll make sure that the story falls under 1k words, but I just wanted to know, just in case.
    Thank you.

    • Sabine van der Plas, June 23, 2017 Reply

Hi Vidhi, we'll allow up to 50 words over the limit. Good luck!
