    Writing competition: #SWEEKLOVE!

    February 6, 2017

February 6, 2017

Writing competition: #SWEEKLOVE!

THIS CONTEST IS CLOSED FOR SUBMISSIONS

Upload your story on sweek.com to enter in the competition!

Let’s talk about love! With Valentine’s day slowly approaching and love vibes in the air, it is time for a new Sweek competition. This time for all our love & romance fans: #SWEEKLOVE! Of course, other genres are more than welcome to participate, as long as your story has a love plot!

We asked Sweekers to vote for their favorite theme, and as voting on the topic came really tight (and who are we to limit the choice of a love story? ;)) We’ve decided to give you two topics to choose from! Fiction, non-fiction – we leave it up to you!

Topic 1: Secret love

An ideal topic for all those who have secret crushes, secret relationships, secret passions…you name it! Based on a true story or not, doesn’t matter, as long as it’s a catchy depiction of secret love 😉

Topic 2: Imperfect love

No one is perfect, they say. But is it also the case with love? Most Romance novels are based on the troubles and barriers we have to overcome in our relationships. A perfect love story would indeed be a little boring, right? This topic invites you to tell a compelling tale about love with imperfections: different backgrounds, heated arguments, disapproving families or simply loving against all odds. And of course, imperfection doesn’t mean it can’t be epic!

Duration

6th of February – 15th of March

First you can fill in story title and description and add a cover, then you click on ‘next’. From the story dashboard you can add a chapter in which you put the text of your story. If you click on ‘publish’, you can fill in the story details and you put ‘#sweeklove’ as a tag. Or you can also include it in your story description. • yonathearcher, February 12, 2017 Reply

Does it have to be a romantic love? Or can people write about love in general, like love between sisters, love between a master and student, or family or loving an animal or any kind? By love, I understood and mean "to love someone-something". Even though I think answer will be negative, I really hope you don't limit love. Thank you! ^^

    • Sweek team, February 12, 2017 Reply

      Hi there,

We definitely wouldn't want to limit love, but it has to fit the topic of imperfect or secret love ;) So as long as it does, your definition of love is just fine!

With the way that the requirements for the crowd prize are, doesn't it depend on how popular you are on sweek? Because if you just started out on this platform or if you're not very known, doesn't that mean that you are at a disadvantage?

    • Sweek team, February 16, 2017 Reply

      Hi Eris,
It might be the case at the beginning, but that also motivates writers to be active on Sweek and share their story with the others in and also outside Sweek community.

    • Sabine van der Plas, March 12, 2017 Reply

Hi Gauri, you can choose what fits your story best. You can submit it chapter by chapter, or in one go, as long as you meet the deadline of March 15th. Good luck!

Any restrictions on swear words? Would they have to be censored if included, or is there an age restriction filter of some sort? Would that be necessary for only bad language?

    • Sabine van der Plas, March 13, 2017 Reply

Hi! There is no restriction, but be sure to put it on 'adult content' such that younger readers are warned. Good luck and let me know in case of any questions!

  • Bhawna, March 13, 2017 Reply

Hello sweek... :) i have a story written by me which already has entered some competition... Can I post the same?

    • Sabine van der Plas, March 14, 2017 Reply

Hi Bhawna, you can use stories that you've entered in other competitions or published elsewhere - no problem. However, it couldn't have entered in a previous Sweek competition. Good luck and let us know in case of any questions!

    Hi,
Secret love and imperfect love are not mentioned in the categories so how are supposed to choose them and tell that yes I have written under one of the two categories?

    • Sabine van der Plas, March 14, 2017 Reply

      Hi Aastha,

You can write it down in the description of your story, but it's not necessary. When we read it, we will know if it's related to the topic ;)

    • Sweek team, March 15, 2017 Reply

Hi there, we don't send a confirmation when you published a story, but I could check it for you. What is the title?

      • Rachana, March 21, 2017 Reply

A perfect couple but never a perfect time

        • Sabine van der Plas, March 24, 2017 Reply

Hi Rachana, your story didn't have the #sweeklove tag, but I can tell that you wrote it for the competition so I'll add it for consideration by the jury.

Is it allowed if the story is submitted little late than the allotted time?

    • Sweek team, March 16, 2017 Reply

Hi there, in that case we will have to judge this on an individual basis. Due to time differences we might allow a bit late submissions.

Please suggest me, what should I do as I have uploaded my first story for the sweek love competition yesterday BUT I HAVE NOT TAGGED IT AS #sweeklove? Do suggest some ways

Tag it as soon as you can (and tell us the name) and we will include it in the list of the participants.

Hey, i submitted my story as an entry to sweeklove on 15 march, 2017. However, today, while trying to open the story for reading, i accidentally opened it in the story editor. It now shows the date of publishing as 16 march. I hope i still qualify for the contest?
