Can you provide details of steps I need to follow to get this right? Thank you.

The topic should be related to your experiences in 2016 or how your life will go in 2017. You can write it in non-fiction, or can imagine new elements to your life to create your fiction story. You upload your story on Sweek (either via website or the app), and when filling in story details, you put ‘my2017’ as a tag. Or you can also include it in your story description. Good luck and let us know in case of any questions!

I published my story today. But can't update the story description and the cover picture. In the Add tags section, I wrote my2017, is it enough to take part in the competition?

    • Sabine van der Plas, Reply

Hi Atri, yes - as a tag should be enough. If you give me the title of your story I can also check for you. Updating story description and cover picture should work, where do you have this issue, on the web platform?

      • Atri Kundu, Reply

Yes, I am using it from my laptop. So, it is the web platform. My story is titled A Stranger From Time. Please tell me how to change the cover and details. Thank you.

        • Sabine van der Plas, Reply

Hi Atri, when you go to 'my stories' and then click on your story, you'll land on the story dashboard. You should see 3 dots in the upper right corner? There you'll find the option 'edit story basics', allowing you to change the image and description. Let me know if you have any other questions!

Hi Bhavna, it's been published correctly on Sweek (I love the cover art!) but not submitted to the competition yet. To do so, please edit the description to consist 'my2017' or put 'my2017' as a tag. You can change this in the story basics and story details, from your story dashboard. You can enter the competition with as many entries as you would like, so your other stories are more than welcome! Let me know if you have any other questions.

Hey, Could you please explain the concept of ongoing serials? Also, I'm seeing people go on about chapters? So how many chapters exactly? Plus will you consider 3rd person?
I know you'll be getting a lot of repeated queries, but I'm just a bit confused. Thanks!

    • Sabine van der Plas, Reply

Hello Sharvari, There is no minimum or maximum number of words. You can submit a poem, short story, novel or ongoing serial. The genre is also open, as long as your story is related to the topic. For a poem or short story, you can all write it in one chapter, but for a novel or ongoing story, publishing multiple chapters (in one story) would be better! There's no fixed amount, all depends on your story. And yes, 3rd person pov is allowed too. To submit, just create your account on Sweek and upload your story (either via website or the app), and when filling in story details, you put ‘my2017’ as a tag. Or you can also include it in your story description. Good luck and let us know in case of any other questions!

The topic exactly is decribing your 2016 or is it how you want your 2017 to be??

    • Sabine van der Plas, Reply

Hello, you can go two ways. Either write a story about your experiences in 2016, or take this as a starting point to continue your story in 2017. The fictional layer can be very subtle (changing dialogues) or feel free to add spaceships, angels or monsters, time travel, winning the lottery or going on a secret mission ;) Good luck and let us know in case of any questions!

Hey, Sweek team! That's one of the best competitions I've ever encountered, thank you for this opportunity! I uploaded a story and tagged it with "my2017", however the tag does not appear to be saving (i tried many times), everything else is okay though :) Can you please confirm (whenever you can of course) if I managed to enter the contest with my ghost-y tag? (the story is called Ko Phi Phi Leh)

    • Sabine van der Plas, Reply

Hi Teodora, thank you for your compliments! I can indeed see your story is published but the tag is not saved. Strange! Did you try using the web version? You can also add the '#my2017' to the story description (you can find it in story basics). I haven't had the chance to visit Ko Phi Phi yet, so I definitely look forward to reading your story! Writing, the only way to let your thoughts transform to eyes and minds of readers. I want to Join this compitation.

    Different Means of My Journey
    - Dew
As I stepped out of my temporal home
And started to move in a four wheeler.
    My mind is still dwell
With the gentle breeze of Tibet.
Cause there is no clean air to breathe.

    I passed by various Cities;
    Sacred cities,
    No sacred treasures.
    Ancient cities,
    No ancient thinkers
    Developed cities,
    Undeveloped hearts.

    I came across various sceneries;
    Rivers where undrinkable drops
    cliffs and slopes
    Valleys and hilly areas.

    But to my surprise
I never met a man in relief.
    From youth to aged,
Too busy with their own little world.

If you think the part you can finish is complete enough to be read like a short story or to have us wanting more chapters, you should be good. You can choose: put it in the story title, story description or one of the tags. We can see your story participate if you use either of those. Good luck and let us know in case of any questions!

Am I understanding the right thing? Also, I need to know if I'm not including any part of how I spent 2016 and how I want to spend 2017, will my story be rejected?

I'm a bit confused about the topic. Like, what do you exactly want me to write? A story that I expect to happen in the 2017 or any story of my choice. Could you please make me clear?

    • Sweek team, Reply

Hi! You can go two ways with the topic.

Hi, I already wrote a story on this subject, but I am not good with computers and I have no idea how to upload the story. Will you be able to help me?
About the story: does it need to be a happy experience?
and can I write it in dutch or is it better in English?

    • Sabine van der Plas, Reply

Hi Yvonne! You need to create your account on Sweek and upload your story (either via website or the app) by going to 'my stories' and clicking on 'new story'. First you can fill in story title and description and add a cover, then you click on ‘next’. From the story dashboard you can add a chapter in which you put the text of your story. If you click on ‘publish’, you can fill in the story details and you put ‘my2017’ as a tag. Or you can also include it in your story description.
It can be any kind of experience you would like to write about, so both happy and sad. Also, both Dutch and English stories are accepted for the competition - we have an international jury. So go for the language you're most comfortable in.

Good luck and let us know in case of any other questions!
