Hi, since yesterday, I've been facing problems uploading my completed work. The page just kept bouncing back to the homepage, unable to process my request. Is there any other way to submit my work?

          • Sabine van der Plas, January 29, 2017

Hi Richelle, we updated our web with improvements and fixes on Friday. If you've logged in before and logged in again after Friday, the cache might give you some problems. If you clear the cache or use the browser in incognito mode, it should work fine again. Please let me know if that solves it! You can also use our apps to upload your work. Hi I am having difficulty uploading my article on swerk. I have made an account and I go to my stories section to upload the article. It asks me for an image, a title and a short description of the article. Once I do that I guess I can upload the entire article next. Is that how you do it? Also how do I tag it as my 2017? Can you provide details of steps I need to follow to get this right? Thank you.

Great to hear you want to participate in the writing competition! You can check by searching for your story title or name on the website or in the app. If your username is Apsara, your story is published. I only see one chapter though with one line. I can't read the text in the image unfortunately, so you might want to type it up in your chapter. Let me know if we can help in any other way!

I'm confused about what the topic is based around. Do we write about what 2016 was like for us and add a fictional twist to it?

    • Sabine van der Plas, January 2, 2017 Reply

Hello Kayla, you can go two ways. Either write a story about your experiences in 2016, or take this as a starting point to continue your story in 2017. The fictional layer can be very subtle (changing dialogues) or feel free to add spaceships, angels or monsters, time travel, winning the lottery or going on a secret mission ;) Good luck and let us know in case of any questions!

Hey, Could you please explain the concept of ongoing serials? Also, I'm seeing people go on about chapters? So how many chapters exactly? Plus will you consider 3rd person?
I know you'll be getting a lot of repeated queries, but I'm just a bit confused. Thanks!

    • Sabine van der Plas, January 8, 2017 Reply

Hello Sharvari, There is no minimum or maximum number of words. You can submit a poem, short story, novel or ongoing serial. The genre is also open, as long as your story is related to the topic. For a poem or short story, you can all write it in one chapter, but for a novel or ongoing story, publishing multiple chapters (in one story) would be better! There's no fixed amount, all depends on your story. And yes, 3rd person pov is allowed too. To submit, just create your account on Sweek and upload your story (either via website or the app), and when filling in story details, you put ‘my2017’ as a tag. Or you can also include it in your story description. Good luck and let us know in case of any other questions!

What do we need to write? Like some incident that changed my life? Or just make a story reflecting on the gone year.? Or something I would do this year?

    • Sabine van der Plas, January 11, 2017 Reply

Hello Akshita, you can go two ways.

      • Akshita, January 13, 2017 Reply

There's one popularity prize as well, so that's gonna be based only on the Sweek community popularity? Or we could take to other media as well? Also, it was mentioned that cover design is one of the criteria for judgment. Does this mean I have to add some picture in front?

        • Sabine van der Plas, January 13, 2017 Reply

Hi! The popularity prize is based on the followers you have within the Sweek platform, and therefore Sweek community. It's not mandatory, but it will attract more attention from the jury and add to the overall feel of your story. Good luck!

Hi Ashvari, that's a good motivation for bringing your story out there. If you would like that story to be part of the competition: create your account on Sweek and upload your story (either via website or the app), and when filling in story details, you put ‘my2017’ as a tag. Or you can also include it in your story description. Good luck and let us know in case of any other questions!

Hello, you can go two ways.

Writing, the only way to let your thoughts transform to eyes and minds of readers. I want to Join this compitation.

    Different Means of My Journey
    - Dew
As I stepped out of my temporal home
And started to move in a four wheeler.
    My mind is still dwell
With the gentle breeze of Tibet.
Cause there is no clean air to breathe.

    I passed by various Cities;
    Sacred cities,
    No sacred treasures.
    Ancient cities,
    No ancient thinkers
    Developed cities,
    Undeveloped hearts.

    I came across various sceneries;
    Rivers where undrinkable drops
    cliffs and slopes
    Valleys and hilly areas.

    But to my surprise
I never met a man in relief.
    From youth to aged,
Too busy with their own little world.

Hi Thupten, nice poetry! If you want to participate in the #my2017 competition, be sure to upload it on Sweek. The jury can't consider email or comment entries. You can create your account on Sweek and upload your story (either via website or the app), and when filling in story details, you put ‘my2017’ as a tag. Or you can also include it in your story description. Good luck and let us know in case of any other questions!

I'm having terrible trouble uploading my story. I created an account for myself on sweek. I went into my stories. Clicked new story . entered the title. That's all . I'm not able to do anything further. Then I clicked next and its like getting uploaded. Is there any other method I could participate.

    • Sabine van der Plas, January 15, 2017 Reply

Hi! Your story doesn’t have to be complete to participate. If you think the part you can finish is complete enough to be read like a short story or to have us wanting more chapters, you should be good. You can choose: put it in the story title, story description or one of the tags. We can see your story participate if you use either of those. Good luck and let us know in case of any questions!

Hi Sounav, it doesn't have to be written in 1st person, you can choose the point of view. We can't check if it's based on your personal experiences, so you can submit it. If the jury enjoys your story and if it reads like it could be a fictionalized personal story, you're good. Good luck and let us know in case of any questions.

Am I understanding the right thing? Also, I need to know if I'm not including any part of how I spent 2016 and how I want to spend 2017, will my story be rejected?

Can I enter any story of my choice or does it has to be some kind of experience?

    • Sabine van der Plas, January 19, 2017 Reply

Hi! You can go two ways with the topic. Either write a story about your experiences in 2016, or take this as a starting point to continue your story in 2017. The fictional layer can be very subtle (changing dialogues) or feel free to add spaceships, angels or monsters, time travel, winning the lottery or going on a secret mission ;) Good luck and let us know in case of any questions.

Hi, I already wrote a story on this subject, but I am not good with computers and I have no idea how to upload the story. Will you be able to help me?
About the story: does it need to be a happy experience?
and can I write it in dutch or is it better in English?

    • Sabine van der Plas, January 29, 2017 Reply

Hi Yvonne! You need to create your account on Sweek and upload your story (either via website or the app) by going to 'my stories' and clicking on 'new story'. First you can fill in story title and description and add a cover, then you click on ‘next’. From the story dashboard you can add a chapter in which you put the text of your story. If you click on ‘publish’, you can fill in the story details and you put ‘my2017’ as a tag. Or you can also include it in your story description.
It can be any kind of experience you would like to write about, so both happy and sad. Also, both Dutch and English stories are accepted for the competition - we have an international jury. So go for the language you're most comfortable in.

Good luck and let us know in case of any other questions!

Good luck and let us know in case of any other questions!

    • Sabine van der Plas, January 29, 2017 Reply

You can read other stories from the web platform, but of course it's even nicer using the app to do so. You can save the stories that you want to read in your library and we'll remember where you left off. You can also use the app to see who's following your story. The links are below:

Can I submit the story by 1st February? I am travelling and came to know about the contest just yesterday

    • Sabine van der Plas, January 29, 2017 Reply

Hi! Unfortunately we have to be strict about the deadline of 31st of January of entering with your story :( just know that you can also use the apps to write your story on-the-go. If the majority of your story is done on the 31st, you can also upload it then and edit it a little on February 1st. We'll allow that :)
